Tight lines on the Franconian Saale
From day tickets to annual permits - fish two of the loveliest beats between Wolfsmünster and Gräfendorf, where the Saale meanders through the quiet valley.

A piece of home among groynes, meadows and meanders
We issue the permits for two stretches of the Saale - in person and easygoing, to guests with no club membership too, and with real love for the water.
Here the Franconian Saale runs fast and rough over gravel bars, then drifts calmly past groynes and backwaters. Grayling rise, pike hold in the reeds, and grey herons stalk the bank. We'll show you where, when and how - and what to keep in mind.
Permits
Two cards, one river
Both cards allow fishing from either bank. All you need is a valid fishing licence - we're happy to sort out the rest in person.

From the deep impoundment above the Gräfendorf weir, past the rushing Schondra mouth, to the barbel runs - three very different characters on one card.

Fish of the Saale
From grayling to a proper eel
Salmonid water upstream, calm swims for coarse fish further down - the Saale has something for every angler.
Each species has a profile with identification help, closed season and minimum size - so you can tell them apart at the water.
Fishing the Saale
Groynes, the "Old Saale" meander and the quiet valley
Below Schonderfeld, groynes line the river - in spring a spawning ground for big pike. North of the village the restored "Old Saale" meander winds through the floodplain, a nursery for young fish and home to the beaver.
In between: the Seewiese fish farm, tall bridge piers from the 1930s, and the Spessart always on the horizon - the lower Saale valley in Lower Franconia, between the Spessart and the Rhön. A landscape best explored rod in hand.

Downstream, frame by frame
A stroll down stretch 7 - following the water from Schonderfeld to the bridge at Wolfsmünster. Browse along the bank: here the Saale runs wide, there the reeds stand tall, and between cut-bank and meadow the valley breathes.
